Hauling logs, "my father with a load of logs to Horseshoe Pond on the meadow at East Fryeburg. During spring highwater, the logs were rolled into the river, and then floated down stream to Saco. Logs are marked according to the company that had bought them. One company was Deering. Their logs were marked with X◊X."
